NEVA stands for Network of European Volunteers' Associations and is an international structure just being established in Europe.

The short history of NEVA
The history of NEVA is not a long one. The idea to start a cooperation between ex-EVS organizations guess was born in European Commission's mind :) Anyway, the first meeting was initiated in Slovakia in May 2005 where different organizations from all over Europe could meet for the first time and discuss their activities, objectives, share the experiences and views for the future. The world wasn't the same ever since then! There the name EVA was born, Ex-Volunteers Association. There for the first time organizations realized how much in common they have and how much they can profit from a cooperation on the international level.
EVA in Action - Portugal, June 2006
It took a while for the other meeting to be organized. Our hero this time was ANEVE - Portuguese EVA, thanks to it the EVAs could meet again and work on the cooperation in Portugal in June 2006.
The project of the seminar had a meaningful name "EVA in Action". It was there where another very important thing was created- a name for the European structure of cooperation between the organizations- NEVA, Network of Ex-Volunteers Associations. More than 30 people from different EVAs participated in this event. There was a lot of action in this project: a promotion movie on EVS- "EVS Fiction", a first newsletter, and a first NEVA's website were created thanks to a hard work, engagement and creativity of many wonderful volunteers.
NEVA- the next step - Poland, January 2007
During the "Eva in Action" seminar Polish association TRAMPOLINA came up with an idea to prepare the next meeting for the organizations. The event "NEVA- the next step" took place in Poland in January 2007, where a few organizations met just for a working weekend to reflect on the present activities, work on future projects and discuss the future of the NEVA. One of the main tasks was to discuss and prepare the coming seminar for NEVA, which will probably take place in Poland in December 2007. We invite you to read the summary of the project.

Strategy Planning Meeting- France, July 2007
In spring 2007 French Ex-EVS Association VE idf joined us in action: thanks to the great support of French National Agency of the Youth in Action program representatives of the most motivated and committed to NEVA associations met for the weekend in the middle of July 2007 in France. It was a very important meeting for the future development of NEVA. We planned the strategy for coming year, worked a bit on further NEVA seminars in 2007 and what is the most important - we deeply discussed and finally decided to start working on the international NGO on the European level.

NEVA, a step further – France, August 2007
This seminar focused on the theme of communication (internal as well as external). The representatives, coming from 12 different countries, were divided in different thematic workshops: the group of the first workshop worked on the creation of a brand new website for the network (online soon…), while other ex-EVS discussed on the communication and development strategy of NEVA. One of the output of this second workshop was the setting up of a work organisation for the issuing the NEVA’s newsletters. A third group worked on an “inter-generational film” involving three different generations of EVS (the members of the national EVAs represented in Grenoble, recently returned EVS and future volunteers). The last group compared our EVAs’ national practices. The aim of the workshop was to bring home some new ideas and working methods and to set the basis of a European cooperation in the development of common tools and activities.
